Role-play: The Beastmaster

Role-play: The Beastmaster

Foreword

Here’s another role-play suggestion for you! As always, you’ll find a detailed character sheet and a list of recommended mods to bring this concept to life.

This time, the focus is on a beastmaster character. I imagine her spending most of her time in the wilderness, roaming the land in search of new species and maybe even tracking down legendary creatures. She'd spend a good amount of time collecting plants, either to make potions or to feed her tamed creatures. She’s equally at home exploring caves—whether it’s for shelter from harsh weather, to discover the unique creatures that dwell there, or to free enslaved individuals.

She’s not a total hermit, though. She ventures into towns to trade, perform duties, and gather resources, but her heart belongs to the wild. Every task she undertakes is chosen with care; she’d never risk the lives of her creature companions for causes she doesn’t believe in.

While many of these role-play elements can be imagined and acted out, a lot can also be achieved through mods. From feeding creatures to pacify them, building camps for yourself and your tamed animals, or even praying to Kynareth for guidance, mods make it possible to live this character’s life to the fullest.

Backstory

Anumor grew up in the dense forests of Valenwood, where her family served as beast wardens for one of the migratory tree-cities. Rather than following the traditional path of archery, she developed an uncanny ability to calm and understand animals. This gift led her to study under Thalrinel, an elderly beast whisperer who taught her the delicate art of animal medicine and behaviour. Her life changed dramatically when a trading caravan she was protecting was attacked by bandits. While she managed to save most of the merchants by commanding a nearby pack of wolves to defend them, one of the merchants was killed - the husband of a prominent Hlaalu trader. Despite her heroism, the deceased's wife blamed Anumor for not acting sooner. The resulting political pressure forced her to leave Valenwood. She chose Morrowind's Grazelands, drawn by tales of its unique wildlife and wide-open spaces where she could continue her work with animals far from political intrigue.
