Morrowind Writing Competition

In order to celebrate the start of the Morrowind Writers' Guild server, AliceL93 organizes The (First? Annual?) Morrowind Writing Competition, just for the members of the server. From the 4th of June, 2022 until the 20th of June, 2022, you can submit one or more written works about Morrowind in the #submissions channel of the server with the chance to win tangible prizes. The competition will start and end on the indicated days, at 00:00, according to London, United Kingdom time.

Categories of the competition:

Mods (any mod that involves writing: it can be a quest or a dialogue mod, or a new in-game book, for example)

Literature (can be a fan fiction or an essay, for example)

Prizes:

Just by submitting a work, it will receive attention and hopefully feedback from the members of the server

There will be one winner in each category, they will both win the “Champion of Writing” vanity role in the server

They will also both be gifted 10 000 Donation Points on Nexus Mods (equivalent of 10 USD). Donation Points can be redeemed for actual cash (through PayPal), Premium Membership on Nexus Mods, or video game keys. (A couple of examples of what costs 10 000 Donation Points or less on Nexus Mods: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Command and Conquer: Ultimate Collection, The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings – Enhanced Edition, Dragon Age – Inquisition, Mass Effect: Andromeda, 7 Days to Die, Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition, Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic etc.)

Rules:

Every writing that you submit must be in English. Works submitted in any dialect of modern English are acceptable.

There are no restrictions concerning length. However, for longer projects, such as huge faction mods with 40-60 quests, or novels and plays, the submission of a playable demo (in case of mods) or an excerpt (in case of literature) instead of the whole work is acceptable, and recommended too.

There are no restrictions concerning the genre or the theme, besides the fact that it should be about Morrowind and that it absolutely should be, at the very least in part, some kind of a written work.

Yes, there are really no restrictions concerning the theme (as long as it fits the broader theme of Morrowind). We believe that one of the most important functions of art is self-expression. Works exploring sexuality, trauma, grief, violence or other sensitive topics are okay, but the usage of content warnings before posting is highly recommended.

You can start working on your mod/piece of literature before the 4th of June, but it must be published during the indicated time period to be considered for this competition. Your work can be published on any platform, as long as you provide a link in the #submissions channel for us to access it.

For anything written (mod or literature) that you submit, plagiarism is forbidden: your writing must absolutely be your own, original work. In case of mods, just like in other modding competitions, using any non-written assets by other modders is permitted, as long as you credit them, and you’re sure that you have their explicit permission for using their asset.

The winners will be based on the vox populi: members of this server will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite mod and piece of literature once the competition ends.

Since it’s a competition organized by only one person, only members of the server can participate, by submitting their work in the #submissions channel. If you want to participate in the competition, but you're not yet a member of the server, feel free to use this invite link.
